Hello again.
If you missed my introduction, I can be found here:
neaairsoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=178
I just wanted to take a bit of time, and discuss a few things with you guys.
Of course, since my departure, and recent re-location to North Central AR, I went right to work getting the new Association started.
What ACS stands for is Arkansas Combat Simulation, and it's rather a full service airsoft venue.
Part of my plans for ACS, is to grow the airsoft hobby in the state... bring in new blood and hobbyist.
Another part, is to help unify AR state regional teams, associations, and venues. If you guys didn't know it, the surrounding states have a more unified effort when it comes to Airsoft and MilSIm hobbies. Arkansas has "hot spots" , that are a ways apart from each other, but I think we can do things to start bringing these "regions" together in the near future.
Part of my plans, is to be able to host Triggerdays, and Events as well.
I am understanding, you guys have your own field, which is great!
I also have a field here where I am at. I got kinda lucky, and partnered up with Splat Action Paintball owner, who's paintball business simply doesn't operate very much anymore over the years. He still has some minor groups that come out to play paintball occasionally... , but not very often.
As well all know, paintball has taken a nose dive in the last few years, and more and more paintball enthusiast are converting to Airsoft and MilSim with airsoft.
This rather left Splat Action, empty, and Ill used... in need of repairs and life breathed back into it.
As such, the owner is letting me, run and host things out there pretty much at my leisure.
The facility at my disposal, is over 35 acres big. It's about 35-40 Acres in size.
It offers a large woodland terrain area, that has some minor bunkers and beginnings of a fort in it... which I will be adding to and expanding on in better weather.
In the middle of the grounds, is a large fortified "bunker" area that boast lots of bunkers and hard cover options, with one large fort, and even larger castle like fort on it. ( I like to call it "shanty-town" , dunno why it just stuck.)
The surrounding areas around "shanty-town" , a bit wooded or field like... offer up a considerable amount of area to pull maneuvers, tactical insertions, and things can even be sectioned off to do many a different scenario and small mission games.
All of the AO combined, can support a nice sized Event or Operation, where anywhere from 60-150 participants would have a great deal of fun.
Action, would be fast and intense in most areas of participation. Anyone that comes, would get loads of trigger time, which is highly coveted in my opinion with any operator.
Field location is:
119 Conway Rd, Judsonia AR 72081.
Google maps finds it nicely.
lh4.googleusercontent.com/-uHKu34fLeuE/TzMNV49XYDI/AAAAAAAAAW0/Dw5yfB2hxAc/s640/Mymap2.jpg
This is an outdated sat image, I doctored up to suffice for an AO map of the facility.
As it stands right now, ACS is virtually new and Unknown , especially in my area here. I am hoping, I can find others here locally, of course.
But, It was suggested to me, by some ARA and AR Outlaws...to get in contact with your organization, as your HQ, is not too incredibly far from mine.
I have no idea, what kind of participant count, you might have of course, or how far everyone ranges.
I do hope I am close enough to you, that most would be willing to come play here, for Triggerdays, and Events.
I know that you have hosted some local events, from the old AR Airsoft forum boards, now defunct with spam adds. So, my guess is that you have a decent or fair number of interested operators around.
What I am desiring here.. of course, is some coming together, not only to help the hobby grow , but to help each other promote our fields, and attract more and more participants in both regions.
Currently, I have a small .. but "free" website, and Free forums to use at my disposal:
acsairsoft.weebly.com/
I'm kinda still working on it, it doesn't really "look airsofty" yet, but I slapped it together rather quickly, just to get something out there, folks could search for.
My forums, have no "members" other than myself currently... mostly cause no one really knows it' s there.
You might ask.... why call it Combat Simulation?
I gave this alot of thought in using proper wording, of what we do in our hobby.
Especially when the term " MilSim" is casually tossed around..., one person's definition, or thoughts of "MilSim" might be different than what the next person expects.
Though, we base many aspects of "airsoft" off of Military, or Militant use... not EVERYTHING we do, technically constitutes what real MilSim is.
Plus, in my mind's eye... I think being absolute, and strictly "MilSim", is very limiting in the vast field of how the hobby can be played and viewed.
So, now when someone wishes to argue with me, that the Event I just opened, or submitted isn't "REALLY MILSIM"... I can say:
" You are right. It isn't MilSim... it's Combat Simulation, with a Theme. "
I don't always just stick to Military like operations though.
I do tend to take in account alot of creativity at times, and come up with events and scenarios that can involve many aspects.
Examples would be like:
The DEA vs Drug Cartell.
Terrorist faction vs Terrorist Rival.
Police vs Disgruntled Civilians.
and a lot , lot more than those, they just come off the top of my head.
I also, see some room, for an on-going, full participation type of game, .. a complete LARP of sots, at some point.
I'd even not be opposed, to stretching the limits of imagination, and experiment with some "science fiction" or Futuristic types of scenarios.
I know I wanna do something "post apocalyptic" at some point.
So, if anyone is interested, after reading my book here... please feel free to let me know!
After OP Brightrain , that ARA is hosting, I plan on "opening" officially. I as of right now, can be open every weekend no problem, afterwards.
I still need to do repairs, some TLC to the field, ... we are in the process of building some new bunkers, and cleaning up the place a bit more...
I could be open this Saturday, if enough folks wanted to come out.
I have been considering, doing some "field test" , and get feedback on the facility.. to see what works, what doesn't.. and what participants like and don't like.
Mostly though, after OP BR... I will be hitting it hard, and starting to put together Triggerdays, minor scenarios, and starting to write up an actual full OP for use out there.
I would not be opposed to cooperating, for you guys to host events or something out here as well.
All in all, you guys aren't that far away. If you all, come down here to participate, I will most definitely, drive up there and participate on your home turf as well.
Thank you for your extended time.
