Some of the rules may seem strange, but they are for historical accuracy.
There would be two main teams.
The United States Army is locked in a stale mate with the North Vietnamese Army.
Green Team is the invading team. (America/South Vietnam/Australia)They are split up into two teams.
The Special Forces Team and the United States Army.
Brown Team is the defending team. (North Vietnam)
Brown team is split up into two teams.
The North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong
GREEN TEAM SUMMARY
Green Team is engaged in a raging battle, and their photo recon jet has been shot down with intelligence that could tip the odds in their favor. The pilot has sent out a distress beacon and is alive. No one knows his location for sure. A Special Forces team on a Long Range Reconnaissance Mission heard the distress beacon and is actively searching for him.
The Jet managed to photograph several key strategic and tactical locations before it was shot down.
The US Army must repel the NVA assault, and then push through the NVA lines. After this, they must capture or destroy key NVA positions, many of which are very well hidden. They are mostly supply stashes and commo systems.
A US Army Squad would have at least 4 people, but no more than 6.
US Army Squad Setup
Green Team would have a Special Forces team behind enemy lines searching for the downed pilot while scouting for enemy positions, as well as their strategic and tactical locations. The SF team's uniform would preferably be Tiger Stripe.
The SF team would also conduct Demolition raids against certain targets.
The SF team would have Four people.
Position-------------Preferred weapon---------------Extra Equipment
Team Leader------Commando carbine/ XM177----Tactical Map
RTO------------------Commando Carbine/XM177----High Power Radio
Medic----------------SMG/MAC-10 or CC/XM177-----Med-Kit
Demolitions Man---SMG/MAC-10 or CC/XM177-----Demolitions Kit
The Preferred uniform for the US Army would be any green based uniform.
BDU's
ACU's
ABU's
DPM's
Woodland Flecktarn
OD Green
The preferred armament for Green team would be weapons that accept M16 mags or M14 Mags.
The preferred magazine for the M16 and the M14 would be the 20 round lowcap magazines.
The preferred armament and uniform of the pilot would be a $35 OD Green Flight suit. The preferred armament would be a commando carbine such as an XM-177 or a Model 607. For historical accuracy, it would be awesome if there was an airsoft Model 608, but there is not (Custom Gun idea!).
The pilot would only be able to carry FOUR 20 round m16 magazines.
Just ofr reference, Air Force pilots in Vietnam were issued survival rifles that used M-16 mags. The rifles were small enough to be carried in the pilot's supply bag when they were disassembled along with 40 rounds of ammunition. It was modular and easily assembled. It was the Colt Model 608.
Below is a picture of the Colt Survival Rifle.
Model 608 - USAF Survival Rifle
Notes:
*Fixed aluminum stock
*Round plastic "tube" handguard
*Can be seen with or without "conical" flashider
*Slabside upper
*Partial fence lower
*Shortened A1 grip
Interestingly though, here is a pilot being rescued armed with an XM-177.
The "photos" would just be a google earth map of the area, with key strategic and tactical locations marked.
BROWN TEAM SUMMARY
Brown team would be defending key positions against green team. Both teams are in a raging battle, which is basically a stale mate. One of their SAM sites shot down a photo recon plane that has pictures of their positions and supply dumps. They have located the crash site of the plane but, the photos and the pilot are gone.
An NVA Squad will consist of at least 4 people, but no more than 6.
NVA Squad
The Viet Cong are looking for the pilot. Their mission is to kill or capture the pilot.
There may be Two NVA advisers attached to the Viet Cong team.
The Viet Cong Will Consist of at least 3 people, but no more than 6.
Viet Cong Team
Brown team would preferably wear brown color based uniforms.
Acceptable uniforms
DCU's
Multicams-recommended for effectiveness, even in woodland.
Desert Flecktarn
Desert Marpat
Coyote Brown Uniform-Recommended for effectiveness, even in woodland.
Khaki Uniform
Tan
It would be preferable that the weapons that they use accept AK mags, or G3 Mags.
It would be best if the mags were low caps that hold 20 or 30 rounds, depending on which type of weapon.
[glow=red,2,300]SPECIFIC RULES[/glow]
Medics and respawns
Each squad will have a designated medic
Everybody on the American side will have a three knotted medic cord. See below for the NVA medical cord rules.
When someone is shot, they will pull out their red dead rag and call out MEDIC and will sit down.
If their medic gets to them first, then their medic unties one of the knots in their cord, and they keep fighting.
If the enemy medic gets to them first, then that medic unties one of the knots on the cord, and they are taken POW.
If they wait there for five minutes and no medic shows up, then they will untie a knot in their cord, and will return to their respawn. If they have any knots left, then they immediately respawn.
After all three knots are untied, the player just calls hit, and returns to their base, where they will wait for five minutes. While waiting for five minutes, they will retie the three knots in their cords.
The following words in green apply to the NVA players ONLY.
To emulate that numerical advantage that the NVA had during the war, three out of every four NVA players will have four knotted medical cords, and one out of every four will have a five knotted medical cord.
Magazine and equipment rules
The only players that can have high caps are the automatic rifleman.
The Downed Pilot can only carry ONE midcap, low profile M-16 magazine, and THREE twenty round lowcaps.
Regular Rifleman, Leaders, Medics, RTO's, and Messengers can carry TWO midcap mags and as may lowcap mags as they can reasonably carry.
Automatic rifleman can carry TWO highcap mags, FOUR midcap mags, and as many lowcap mags as they want.
Gun Rules
For brown team, if you do not have an AK or a G3 styled weapon, don't worry about it. Just use what you have.
For green team, if you don't have an M16 or an M14 styled weapon, don't worry about it. Just use what you have.
If you have an M-4 or a gun with a collapsible stock, the stock must be extended all the way unless you are using it as a commando carbine.
ALSO
Due to costs, however, we could use armbands, and no one should have to buy a new gun.
And don't forget!
We really, really, really NEED one of these
